This was a fantastic experience from booking of the ride to getting us back to our local accomodations! The pre-trip communications was outstanding. We never had to worry about pick up and the schedule. The ride was absolutely fantastic and our pilot, Cato, shared everything about balloon piloting. Of course, the views and ride was absolutely amazing! Everything about the operation was professional and curtious. The day ended with a nice celebration before being dropped back to our accomodations. We took our first ever hot air balloon ride with Santa Fe Balloons and had the most wonderful experience, we can’t recommend it enough! Our pilot, Nicholas, was fantastic and made us feel safe and secure throughout the experience. With this being our first experience, we weren’t sure what to expect. Nicholas communicated every step of the way throughout inflation, launch, ride, and landing. He provided a thorough and easy to understand safety briefing, and answered all the questions we had about the world of ballooning. Bryan and the rest of the crew were so kind, helpful, and made the experience a blast from start to finish. In addition to the actual ride, Santa Fe Balloons also does hotel pick up and provides a wonderful time for a toast, snacks, and information on the history of ballooning after the ride which enhanced our experience even more. From the convenient pickup at the hotel, through the educational drive to the launch site, through the flight itself and the celebration afterward, our entire experience was a blast! Our crew lead by pilot Nicholas Abrams was professional and friendly. Nick arrived at OJO Sante Fe to pick us up at exactly 4:30 AM and the ride to the “Balloon port” was enjoyable with 4 other people. Brian and Amanda are the perfect working team; preparing the balloon with Nick, attending to every safety measure and organizing the wonderful champagne buffet after the flight. Nick is truly an extraordinary and amazing pilot. Every safety detail was explained before the flight and reinforced during the flight, especially the landing. Local to Santa Fe, staff, customer service and experience all wonderfull. The two Senior pilots with over 40 years experience each, were fantastic, humerous and full of enthusiasm. The flight was not simply up and down, but piloted through the local countryside exhibiting how to control and manage the balloon, and of course wonderfull New Mexico sceneryPosted onVerified Metaphor for life experience. My husband and I celebrate 35 years of marriage this year. We took this ride at dawn on Easter morning for a sunrise spiritual experience rising into the clouds as did our Lord that first Easter morning. For me, I felt the trip to be a double entendre, or metaphorical experience, for life and faith. My husband volunteered to help fill the balloon with the fan. It was 31 degrees on the ground, pre-dawn. It was arduous for him, like the 10 years it took us to get to marriage. We committed. We climbed in helping each other to do so. After lift off we sailed high and far with ease, like most of our life has gone. After awhile, we lost altitude, scraped the side of the concrete ditch leaving black marks (scars) from our basket. The bottom of our basket touched the ground of the watery ditch, and in the same downturn I felt I could almost reach out and touch the power lines. Metaphorically this compares to the various trials, tribulations, and near misses that come up along the way in life/marriage (or all relationships actually). With faith, time, calm, patience and experience of others around us (our pilot/God) we safely rose out of the ditch, only to land in a barb wired fenced area- trapping us. We couldn’t deflate/disembark safely without ripping the balloon in the barbed wire. Having faith and continued commitment in all to work out, Alfred (who has 24 years experience) and our two ground crew members, all worked together to give us enough lift to get us out of the barbed wire “danger zone” to safety, which was in clear visible view of where the bus waited for us just a few yards away. While we were never in any real danger on the balloon ride, like in life, things happen along the ride (that leave scars/black marks), bumps, touching the bottom, feeling trapped. Calling on our pilot, (our faith in God), and working with each other, we can rise above it all and continue the journey of life together experiencing all life has to offer.Posted onVerified Extremely Professional Group Great experience! The crews are extremely impressive and professional. At least two were retired from public service—fireman and police. Their professionalism provided an extra level of confidence throughout the entire process. Definitely an enjoyable bucket list experience. The after ride celebration was also well done!
